Weavings
Weavings is a multimedia contemporary dance performance, the result of a collaborative research project between professional dancer and choreographer Alexandra Contreras and New Media artist Laura Anzola. This work merges two distinct artistic disciplines, drawing inspiration from the intricate processes of weaving, basketry, and tapestry-making, while examining themes of origin, time, memory, and identity.
Choreographed to the music of internationally acclaimed clarinetist María "Mange" Valencia, The performance explores the seamless integration of live visuals and movement, where real-time visuals are algorithmically generated in response to the dancer’s movements, while the dancer simultaneously adapts and reacts to the evolving digital projections.
As a work in progress, Weavings reflects an ongoing exploration of these interconnected ideas.
